High performance, low voltage consumers, including electric arc furnaces (EAF and LF) for steel production, need a high degree of inductive idle power. This is compensated for by the use of passive filters (suction circuits). In addition, the filters reduce selected voltage harmonics.
The customer-specific dimension of this compensation equipment is based on the project boundary conditions—energy supply contract, harmonic and flicker limit values, electromagnetic interference, short-circuit power level etc. The required function is demonstrated by way of simulation.
